For quite sometime, I've whined a lot about how I can't get a table lamp with a bulb (and not a tubelight) to experiment portraits. Good for me, the thing works out just as fine with a tubelight wala table lamp. Just a bit of post-processing in Picasa & PS and voila! Love this one.

Long time no see :-)
Lots of water has flown under the bridge. I've left Bangalore and joined IIM Calcutta. This should explain the long period of inactivity on this photoblog. Anyway, I plan to revive this photoblog. Now onwards, it should be updated with decent frequency, with photos predominently from IIMC campus & Kolkata City.

Taken in office. How I wish the background was some lighter shade or white. Tried changing that in GIMP. Too tedious. But I like the pose, almost candid :-) One thing I screwed up is the ISO value. I had set it manually to 400 for another shot and forgot to change it back to auto afterwards. Made all the pics of this shoot grainy.

Thanks to Anup, I stand corrected. This is not a Common Crow, its The Blue Mormon (Papilio polymnestor).

The Common Crow (Euploea core) is a common butterfly found in South Asia. In India it is also sometimes referred to as the Common Indian Crow. It belongs to the Danaid subfamily (Danainae, that is, Crows and Tigers) of the Nymphalidae family, that is, the Brushfooted butterflies.

This one's clicked in the garden of the Leela Palace Hotel, Bangalore.
